In the battle to define
what is the
The internet went wild over this photo of Roni Rose with a seductive expression that seemed to be aimed at her target: Steph Curry. The Golden State's golden boy was making moves as usual, and the internets lashed out at this woman as a "hoe" and a "home wrecker."
Ahhh the people of the internets are omniscient as always. (all sarcasm intended.)
Why are people so quick to jump to conclusions?
Because we seem to be trained to make snap judgments of people in general, and in some cases it causes no harm, in other cases it ends in the death of young black men at the hands of rogue police officers. but even MORE FREQUENTLY, it leads to the judgement and bashing of WOMEN for having breasts and a round backside.
God forbid that you are a beautiful woman walking about the world. Surely by virtue of being beautiful you are going to manipulate your way through life. (again, all sarcasm intended.
SO WHY AM I WRITING THIS?
Because I decided to look into who Roni Rose was BEFORE joining the beautiful-woman-bashing train that had been thrown at her. And here is what I found:
1. Her statement on the photo was that she was actually trying to drink her soda at the game, and someone caught the wrong expression on her face. So what looked like seduction, was just a woman caught at the wrong moment. (Let's look through your past of photos and see how many crazy a** faces we see in your past)
2. And she's a mother based on her Instagram page. She has a beautiful daughter has many photos of her child and extended family of cousins and other family members.
3. She also has been a long time fan of basketball and isn't new to being at the games and enjoying time with friends there. I saw ZERO photos of her with NBA players or at any of those after-game parties, so the chances of her being that "groupie hoe" that people are calling her is slim.
WHAT ELSE DID I SEE?
She's a working model that seems to have paid gigs in several American cities (not an "Instagram model.")
AND teaches dance classes with another woman.
Their classes are called "Twerk and Werk" and look like a lot of fun.
Any one out in Oakland, CA area should check them out.
As far as I can tell, she's a moderately successful business woman who uses social media to advertise for her business and modeling.
WHY DID THIS BOTHER ME?
It's not about Roni Rose, because I don't know her or how she lives. This is about the reaction of media and people in general to immediately call a woman a "hoe" and a "homewrecker."
Because, I'm sick of women, especially those society considers "sexy" being labeled and treated differently as if we are not trustworthy because you can't control the reaction your body has to our presence.
Because I'm tired of pretty women being doubted for their knowledge or business acumen or professionalism, once again, not because of anything we've done, but because you're arousal centers are erupting and you can't focus.
MODERN TRADITIONAL LADY does not discriminate against any woman's body type or perceived level of beauty.
MODERN TRADITIONAL LADY believes women should express their beauty and charm without fear of being called a "hoe" just because we dare to show pride in our appearance.
I have friends who are professional body builders, some who dance in burlesque shows, and some who teach dance and pole dancing. These expressions of appreciation for the beauty of the human form, health and sensuality or nothing to frown at.
Roni Rose may show more skin than I'd ever do on a public level, but she takes pride in her body and has EVERY RIGHT to teach dance classes, model, and go to basketball games without being judged as something she DOES NOT live.
Does she think Steph Curry is sexy? Probably so. I know I do and many other women do.
Would she try to take him from Ayesha? No one has any evidence of that besides one poorly timed photo that the world jumped to claim it proved something more.
I guess none of you internet people have ever looked at someone attractive and had a reaction before. I guess being a beautiful woman means she should hide her attraction for others and hide her sensuality so she doesn't "offend" your little narrow minded world.
I can't say what she thinks of Steph, but I can say that based on what I see on her social media, she IS NOT the image the internet has made her out to be.
